Hi,
I recently (yesterday) had my home Internet Service Provider (Virgin Media) in Ireland upgrade my service from 1GB to Fibre 2GB.
As part of this upgrade I was supplied with their new modem / router.
I did my usual thing once the basics were all working & went to setup the port forwarding to make Subsonic work in iSub on my iOS devices.
I ran into an issue.
It seems the new router does NOT support IPv4 port forwarding, and only supports some form of IPv6 forwarding.
I'm guessing from my general online research under these topics this is not a unique issue, and that there should be some technical solution for this.
- but I have not figured out what that is yet, hence my post here looking for some more knowledgeable network experts to weigh in...
I read terms like IPv6 DS lite and such, and it seems IPv6 addresses are actually available on the internet, and are not like locak addresses on your local LAN like before.
That said I cannot seem to figure out how to get iSub & Subsonic talking to each other, except locally.
Hoping someone here can help or advise.
I did already speak to my service provider, and they only seem to support ipv6 on the nwe fibre service.
Many thanks
