This is fabulous! Thanks for the update Sindre!

I am still having the same issue with transcoding flac to ogg. I am trying to transcode from flac to ogg, since Android supports ogg files. The good news is that the transcoding DOES work IF you select the music and "save to phone." If you just "play" the music directly you get at IO exception because Android will not recognize .complete or .partial extensions. Since the "Play and Save" option has been removed in the most recent release, I have to set Subsonic downloading through the "save to phone" option before playing.

Great work on the update though. Lots of things are working excellently that were not before!

Here is another (much more serious) issue.

I select an album to play. It's playing for awhile, but then I decide I'm done listening, pause playback (there is no stop button), leave Subsonic and mount my SD card. Subsonic is still running in the background, downloading the rest of the album, which it obviously cannot complete because the sd card is busy. This sets off a loop on the server end, which now repeatedly transcodes any songs that were not completed, each of which fails and then starts over. Major server load!

Thanks again. Sorry to bring only bummer news to the discussion!

This is so wierd! I just rooted my phone two days ago, installed a custom rom yesterday, and while I was at work today, I said to myself, "Man, I wish there were a new version of Subsonic to go with the new freedom I have with this phone." On a lark I go into the Market and wouldn't you know it, Sindre delivered! Thanks again!

Play+save is removed, but the regular "Play" does just the same thing. The song is downloaded to the phone when you play it.

EDIT: Thanks for this new version by the way! :)

I'd like to request a few features for the next version of the Android client:

1) SSL / https support - including the ability to accept self-signed SSL certificates (ignore certificate errors or allow the user to set / manage exceptions)
2) Menu option to fully exit the application. I don't like the idea of playing an album, pausing playback (since no stop) and closing it, only to have it continue to download and cache the entire album I had queued. I don't think it's necessary to download 100 MB in the background when the app is not being used. It's a bandwidth hog and a battery drain.
3) Seek during playback.

Keep up the great work on this whole project! I'll definitely be donating shortly for the unlocked version.

Any idea on when this app might be updated? Z-Subsonic is getting SSL support in v1.5, and I'd love to see it in the Android app as well. A fix for the multiple notifications bug would be great too (the one that causes tiny skips during playback as well).

Thanks!

Hi,

I'll look at supporting SSL and adding an exit option in the next version.

Thanks,
Sindre

I am also noticing the problem with streaming .ogg on my Droid. I would like to stream .ogg at 64K vs mp3 at 128K to put less load on my 3G network, and to also have smaller cached files on my device for "offline" mode. It cannot play unless I choose the "save to phone" option first.

Aside from all this Subsonic has completely changed the way I listen to music. I was trying to find an iPod on the cheap before this to no avail. and now I am saved! Thanks Sindre!

Hey Sindre,

Any update on when the new version might be out? I have been anxiously awaiting the new version since I got my Android phone a couple months ago. :)

Can't wait for the feature to control how much the app queues in advance. :)

Thanks for developing it! :)

A new version will be available within a week or so. Note: This release focuses exclusively on usability and appearance. Once it's out, I'll get cracking on yet another version with focus on bug fixes and new features.

Regards,
Sindre
