iSub iPhone Client - Version 1.0 Released

In the Z-Subsonic thread, Sindre had mentioned that another iPhone client was also in the works. My client - iSub - was just approved a few hours ago :)

It is available right now from the App Store for $3.99. Here is the iTunes link to buy it: itms://itunes.apple.com/us/app/isub-mus ... 20532?mt=8

iSub currently has the following features
- Settings inside the app
- iPod app style browsing
- Artist search
- Browsing multilevel directories
- Caching of all browsed directories for speedy browsing
- Album art while browsing
- Full size album art in player view
- Resuming music when interrupted by a call or text or when closing the app using the home button while a song is playing
- Each music folder is a playlist automatically so when you select a track from an album it will continue to play the rest of the tracks in that album
- Shuffle, Repeat 1, and Repeat All when playing an album
- Detailed track information by tapping the cover art
- Skipping through tracks

Features coming soon:
- Full support of playlists stored in Subsonic
- Custom local playlists (similar to Z-Subsonic)
- View tracks that other users are playing
- All albums and all songs lists (similar to iPod app)
- Album and song searching
- even more...

Although this is only verson 1.0, I find it to be very stable in my own personal use so far. Please email any bugs, crashes, or questions to support ~at~ einsteinx2 ~dot~ com. I'll also be lurking around the forum a bit, but the best way to reach me will be via email as it is sent directly to my phone.

All future updates will always be FREE for existing users. I plan to bugfix and update regularly as I will be using iSub just as often as I hope many of you will. The features listed in the "Features coming soon" section above should all be implemented within the next month. I just wanted to get a basic player framework together to build off of in the future and to be able to use as soon as possible. When I started coding this, Z-Subsonic was not released yet so it really started as a personal project for me that turned into a full featured, App Store ready app. I hope you all enjoy it!

Here's something to add to your "even more" list
- Multiple server profiles
- a place for the lists on the front page of subsonic (newest, recently played, etc)

Thanks for the suggestions. Handling multiple server profiles is actually also already in the works, I had just forgotten to add it to that list.

Unfortunately, the API currently does not have a way to access those lists that are on the front page. I am working with Sindre to expand the API to include more features, including the ability to interact with the Subsonic chat. I will request that he also include access to those lists.

Thanks for the input :)

Yep. It works on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and should even work on the iPad once it comes out.

So I can't shuffle across my whole collections in the current version? Is that upcoming?

Thanks

Currently you can only shuffle inside albums. Iin the next release you'll be able to shuffle all songs as well. Also you will be able to shuffle custom and Subsonic playlists.

I just set up my server, so I will be waiting eagerly for the new version of the iPhone client. Any estimate when that will be?

Just installed on a iphone 3g, rebooted the iphone. I am able to connect and see my music. When I click on an album to see the songs it crashes to the iphone home screen.

edit: This is the log in subsonic:
INFO RESTRequestParameterProcessingFilter Authentication failed for user null

Replied to your email. This is the first I've seen of that problem. We'll get this solved for you one way or another.

Very Responsive.

Just got it for my Touch and it works great. My library is over 45,000 tracks and it's instant when browsing.

Great 1.0 release, looking forward to the ability to load playlists.

Just so everyone else is aware, this problem turned out to be caused by Subsonic not returning a duration field for transcoded m4a's. I had assumed that field would always be returned. I just submitted an update to fix the problem. It will be available as soon as they release it to the store.

I should have an updated release with new features in the next 2 weeks, with all listed upcoming features plus more within a month. Glad you're interested!

Excellent! Does it work over 3G data connection? I want to access my music remotely and won't always have wifi hotspots to use.
