I just put out Subsonic 4.0.beta2: http://subsonic.org/pages/changelog.jsp

Lots of new themes and some important bug fixes.

Seems like the new JW Player hang from time to time. Have to choose and Click on another song and then return to get it start playing/streaming.
There is also some new themes which don't respond if you choose/select from the letter on the top left side..

the first chat line i put in works ok. but if I enter more than 1 everything dissapear.

Maybe som leftover somewhere from beta 1?

can't seem to play anything from the web player... all albums showing fine but nothing plays.. WHS with all tracks m4a...

Hello, I used to listen to m4a files and it was working with 3.9.

The song simply never start.

Any mp3 file play fine.

Windows 7 64b, using the web player

I wish to help you with that issue.

I does play in the iSub iPhone application. So the transcoding works. The problem is around the web player, playing m4a files through transcoding, or such.

I can confirm this. Just tested a couple m4a's and couldn't get them to play in the web player with transcoding on (browsing on my mac in firefox) but they played fine in iSub. Was able to play a FLAC file fine through the web player though. Turned off transcoding for m4a files and the web player worked.

Installed beta 2 over 3.9, all worked great yesterday, listened to music all day remotely from work. played a little this AM then it froze, I logged out, tried to get back to the url and I get the

Tried reinstall/ firewall/AV off everything cant' seem to get it back again I am trying to figure it out without deleting my users, but if I have to......I will



EDIT: Ok, not sure how, because as I said, I listened to it all day yesterday and some this morning, but my router port was forwarded fine, but the checkbox for UPNP in Subsonic was unchecked, checking it fixed the issue. Don't now how it got changed, I am the only Admin in my subsonic. Thanks as always for a great great application

Thanks a lot for providing a test account for me, it allowed me to quickly find out what the problem was. It's a bit complicated to explain, but easy to fix.

The "old" (3.9 and earlier) way of transcoding m4a was to use faad+lame (as configured in Settings > Transcoding). However, in 4.0, I replaced the faad converter with the more general ffmpeg. So your configuration refers to a converter (faad) that is not in your c:/subsonic/transcode directory, which is why it fails. (Did you manually delete anything in c:/subsonic when upgrading? I thought that the old transcoders would not be deleted when upgrading with the Windows installer).

Anyway, to solve it you can choose one of the following solutions:

1. Wait for the final 4.0 release. I'll add the faad converter again to avoid this problem.

2. Change your transcoder settings to use ffmpeg. See http://subsonic.org/pages/transcoding.jsp

3. Disable the m4a>mp3 transcoding altogether, as Subsonic now supports native streaming of m4a (or aac, to be specific).

No I didn't. I installed the 3.9 last week and did an install of 4.0 beta 2 over it (never installed beta 1). I hope it helps to focus on the exact source of the settings not being correctly updated.

I really like the new themes (Pink Panther, Simplify, Denim) but the ABC links to anchors on the left panel don't work when they are enabled.

Hi Sindre,

since 4.0 beta1 i´ve a problem running subsonic.war on tomcat6.
after some 30 minutes runnning some threads get stuck.
after starting a rescan of the search index same problem.
then i´m not able to stop the application in tomcat manager or stop tomcat itself.
i´ve to kill the tomcat processes with kill -9 ... so i don´t have any log entries

os is arch linux 64bit, tomcat is 6.0.26. problem can also be reproduced on windows 7 running tomcat.

btw great application, really like it

When this happens, can you please do "kill -3 <tomcat pid>" and capture the thread dumps that are written to the tomcat log?
