Based on your useful feedback I just released a second beta version for Subsonic 4.6. Changes are as follow:
New: Added option in Settings > Transcoding: "Enable this transcoding for all existing and new players."
New: Updated Slovenian translation, courtesy of Jan Jamšek.
New: Added Google+ button.
New: Automatically delete obsolete players on startup.
Bugfix: Jukebox now support skipping when paused.
Bugfix: Fixed a case where guessing the title and track number failed.
Bugfix: Don't estimate content-length for web players.
Bugfix: Album search links missing if subdirectory exists.
Bugfix: Fixed broken Google search link.
Bugfix: Remove link to lyrics. chartlyrics.com no longer exists.
REST: Ensure that jukebox "set" method maintains correct current index.
REST: Added "scrobblingEnabled" to getUser.
Tech: Ensure Windows uninstaller only removes program files (in case user installs to c:\subsonic).
Tech: Subsonic Control Panel (on Windows) now prompts for elevated permissions when necessary.
Thanks in advance for your comments,
Sindre

It needs a java servlet container. For apache, this usually means Tomcat.
I have my server running in Tomcat (on Windows though)...

Looks good here... 5 minute WAR version upgrade.
- Code: Select all
[2011-11-17 07:42:40,515] INFO PlayerDao - Deleted 138 player(s) that haven't been used after Sun Sep 18 07:42:40 EDT 2011
I guess I had a few outdated players!
Thanks Sindre!

I'm still having the bug where the player list is empty.

EDIT. The PLAYER list, not the playlist. Just to avoid confusion...

Found a reproducible issue as video streaming is jerky in graphic accelerated browsers such as Explorer 9 and Firefox v7, v8, and soon to be v9. Evidently Subsonic isn't optimized to handle playback in graphic accelerated browsers. Please fix as I'm stuck on Firefox.
When using Google Chrome or Opera I notice sometimes the video stream will become jerky after pausing and unpausing a video. This also occurs when minimizing and maximizing a video while its playing usually more prone to happening after 30+ minutes of video watching. Video format being played is H.264 Flv, no transcoder being used just a straight stream.
Transcoder needs some performance and speed improvements, Ever thought about adding ATI Stream and Nvidia Cuda support? This would help with transcoding on the fly transcoding although there's plenty of room for improvement without these extra technologies.
Also Album art shows and fades out in Explorer 9 hope this will be fixed as not everyone uses Firefox, Chrome, or Opera
