Subsonic for Android 3.3.beta1 released

I'm happy to announce that version 3.3.beta1 of the Subsonic Android app is available.

It sports a new "remote control" feature, where you can use the app as a remote control for what is playing on your Subsonic server (using the jukebox feature). I'm quite excited about this, but as a test of the intuitiveness I won't say more about how to use it :-)

IMPORTANT: Subsonic 4.6.beta2 or later is required.

Download it from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/subsoni ... k/download

Looking forward to your comments!
Sindre

remote will be great for parties :) will give it a go at my boys birthday this weekend.......if I'm intuitive enough to figure it out :)

I see the RC so I'm off to a good start ;)

Bummer for me :( .......I have it working but my server is not what I play my music on....it is in the basement with no monitor or speakers, connected to my network and I listen on another pc...so what would be cool is if I could remote control an account so all users connected to that account will respond to my remote controlling

ok..i investigate and i found this....i check snd modules of my sound card and it was ok , i reload alsa sound driver --> ok , and always no sound
After restarting subsonic service , sound was back .
When i use subsonic remote control jukebox , it's working good but if try to play another sound source i have no sound even if i stop remote control on my android phone
I must restart subsonic server , and sound is back
Do you have a reponse ?
Maybe android-jukebox player does not stop correctly when i turned off ? i dont know.....
Thanks for your help .....
If you want i test something or need information....

Thank a lot Sindre !!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, the audio support in Java on Linux is very poor. Try googling "java audio linux" for a description of the problems, and hopefully a fix specific to your setup.

Just updated my Android app and it's working fantastically. I did spend about a min looking through the menu for "Jukebox" mode before finding the toggle. It's really nice and simple once I figured it out. I love that my phone's volume buttons control remote volume while under remote control.

As a side note, I have had a small issue with the Jukebox mode. I am using SPDIF optical output from my PC to my receiver and it seems that Subsonic re-starts the digital audio stream with every new song (or if you skip forward/backward within a song). This causes a short (500ms) silence while the receiver reacquires the digital stream, so it misses the very beginning of songs. On the web browser, the problem is only observed when the player first starts up, and changing songs does not cause this issue. I have been able to work around the issue with a small application called SPDIF KeepAlive, found here: http://blog.rhysgoodwin.com/htpc/spdif-keepalive/

For reference, I am running Subsonic on Windows Server 2008 R2. I use Subsonic every day and it's wonderful. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Sindre -- YOU ROCK!!!

My only regret is that I wished I would have found this sooner! But I guess it's only been 10 days since you released this beta ... :D

It works wonderfully!!! Thanks so much, can't wait to have my next bonfire and impress my friends. They're already impressed, as I was using the browser on my Droid as a 'jukebox' but the Subsonic Droid App is so much nicer of an interface. And I do love how I can change the volume with phone's volume buttons (Droid X).

Thanks again for the awesome work!

:D

this sounds like an amazing feature, however im limited to the web player since i am running a separate box as a NAS that hosts my files and subsonic. when i play audio it is either on the android client or in the web player mode, not jukebox :\

good work on everything so far. look forward to testing a few things ive noticed on the android player and havent had the time or bothered to report on

i'll be donating again soon :)

It stops playing when I'm making a phone call, just like it does when it plays trough the phone. Is this intentional?
