Next Version?

Postby Robandcathy » Mon Jan 02, 2012 7:10 pm

I just want to know if anyone had a heads up if a newer version is coming up soon? Only reason I ask because I run this on WHS 2011 and its a pain in the a$$ to setup, so want to do minumal damage if a newer version will be out soon then Ill wait otherwise I have a few hours now to set it up. I'm on 4.5 now. I know 4.6 is out but is 4.7 around the corner?

you will usually see a beta version pop up first and run for a bit, maybe even a second beta after that, so think of that when making your decision

It's hard to put a timeframe on when another version will be released, but I do know that ver. 4.7 is currently under active development.

It does get easier with lots of practice

Having a few extra boxes around or being able to set up a few VM's to play with different configurations really helps a user to learn all the ins and outs of setting up and upgrading. Unfortunately, not everyone has that luxury.

Best advice, in Windows always copy the C:\Subsonic directory to a safe location before you get started. If everything gets messy, you can always Uninstall and roll back to the previous version if necessary. Just recopy the saved directory back to C:\Subsonic and your back where you started.

I've been upgrading since ver. 3.8 and have always been able to just run the upgrade, then edit the service permissions to allow SS to access files on server shares. That's it!
