Hey gang. I am pleased to announce that Sonic Stream is now available in the app store!

Get it here - http://bit.ly/yHciEL

My goal was to create a simple yet powerful interface, in true Apple fashion. I didn't want a ton of esoteric controls. I hope you will find this app to be a great companion to your SubSonic server. This is only version 1.0 so I'm looking forward to getting some great suggestions from the SubSonic community.

I've got 3 promo codes to give away to the first three users to PM me.

First impressions, its definitely fast. On 3g and Wifi, it cues up quickly. A few key things I like in other apps
- Ability to cache songs individually (swipe option or tap/hold)
- "Downloads" section of cached items to have the same Artist/Album structure
- Ability to set the bitrate
- Creating playlists

One other thing I noticed is it appears (I say appears because I may be wrong) to load the list of artists from the server again every time it launches. Maybe implement a pulldown to refresh and keep the list cache from first launch/last refresh (could speed up the already fast launching)

But good work, seems like a promising app. I will try to use it as much as I can and give you feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. So for something like individual cache, would you say if the cache setting was off in the settings panel that a long press on a song should cache that song? But if it auto-played to the next song it wouldn't cache that one? That seems simple enough.

Ability to set bitrate, good idea - will do that.

Playlists - if I can come up with a good way to do it, I will. I don't really like the way Apple does it but I don't see an easier way.

Structured download lists is a big job, I will get to that later...

Version 1.1 went live on the App Store yesterday. New features are:

- ability to select streaming bitrate (defaults to 128)
- a "disable cache" switch. when the cache is disabled, you can long-press on a track to cache just that one track.

Both features are found under the settings/"gear" icon on the Browse tab.

Enjoy!

I keep getting an API connection error due to a SSL problem. I'm assuming it's due to the cert being self-signed. Are you able to add an option to override self signed errors?

Can I ask what URL you are using? Is it like https://somename.subsonic.org/ ?

I keep getting an API error "A connection error failure occurred"
This is using the http://xxxx.subsonic.org or my servers actual address
Any thoughts?

Not able to play any m4a files however. I get a "The operation could not be completed (os status error 1685348671). No error in the subsonic log. Plays fine on web based and other iOS players.
Any thoughts?

Sonic stream will encode m4a (Apple lossless) well, but when trying to stream Apple lossless music over LAN I have the same error as the post above. I have tried with versions 4.5/4.6 on linux mint 13.
Will there be an upgrade to Sonic stream to allow this?

I replaced by freenas.7.x server with Subsonic(4.6) installed on it to Nas4free 9.x with Subsonic(4.6).

Nas4free is the freenas .7 upgrade track that allows Subsonic installation.
I am getting an API error message when I try to brows the folders.

I can use Z-Subsonic and ISub without any problems.

I like the Downloads folder in Sonic Stream.

Sorry I haven't replied in so long, been busy on other projects.

I just tried M4A (apple lossless) and it worked fine. Subsonic 4.6 on Mac OS X. Can I get a login on your server to see what's going on? PM me the details.

Version 1.3 is now live. Fixes special character display, and now sorts folders with mixed music/subfolders into folders first, then songs (both sections independently sorted).
