Not yet but hopefully soon.
Although there still appears to be a lot on the TODO list still to be done!

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

It's getting closer. Some things that were originally scheduled for 4.7 have been postponed so the list of the remaining items to do for 4.7 is getting smaller. A lot of time and effort went into performance tweaking. I don't have any timeframe, but I'm expecting a 4.7 beta soon - my guess would be sometime in May.

Where is the to do list? tried to do a search but apparently "to" and "do" are not 3 letter of greater words. So I get no search results  .

Looking at the change log on Sindre's website, there was 6 months between 4.4 and 4.5, then 4 months between 4.5 and 4.6. It doesn't really say much, as I'm sure a lot more is being added to what will be 4.7 than we have in 4.6, but we're approaching the 5-month mark now between 4.6 and 4.7 (not including beta versions).

TODO IN 4.7
-----------------
Use port 4040/4443 on windows.
getAlbumList returns both "title" and "album".
REST doc: create getVideos example.
Create complete test plan.
Test upgrade 4.6->4.7

I'm guessing sometime this month.

Looks like we won't have to keep telling everyone not to use 80/443 much longer - there goes half the forum traffic.

Here's the TODO list:

http://subsonic.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... iew=markup

I'm interested in
Always use fast access mode in LeftController.
Refactor accessMode in MediaFileService.
"Performance" - whatever that is

4.7 should be much faster.

Yeah I know the word. :) I'm just curious in which ways. You know, has he upgraded Jetty, turned on precompilation of JSPs, rewritten all the ugly HTML do something smaller and more efficient (I wish), started streaming music using some nifty error-recovering UDP protocol.. whatever. Since it's open source, I'd like to know in detail.

We all would, but it ain't done yet. I've seen an early version that loaded my library lightning fast and was visibly faster than previous versions. Early feedback on the developers forum found some things that precluded it being released, so I have no way of knowing if the load speeds I saw early on will carry over intto the next release version. What I saw looked very promising.

Was reading through the link posted....

One of the things I noticed was about what to do when there is not an "Album" listed in a song. Would it be possible to stick it in an "Unknown" album, or perhaps a "Misc" album name?

Sure.

I have lots of music that doesn't fall into a neat "Album" listing.

I have one titles "Singles" with just a bunch of oddball tracks in it.

I also use "Original Sound Tracks" , "Billboard top 100" with each year in a seperate folder, and there's also a "Various Artists" folder for things like Greatest Hits collections and Albums that are unique with multiple Artists on the same album.

You can use any logical system that works for you, but the key point to remember is that SS performs better when you have a lot of folders with no more than 20 or so tracks in each folder. Once you start getting above 30 or so tracks, depending on your system's overall speed, you start to see performance degradation whe you try loading the folder.
