How/where to I set up my subsonic.org address for dynamic hosting? (Yes, I'm a paid donor). TIA!

It now says
Status: yourname.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (NoRouteToHostException)

What now...is there a specific port? I have it streaming over dyndns, so I know it works, but not at the subsonic address using the existing port.

Addy still unresolvable. Do I need a port opened? My dyndns has a specific port opened...could I not just use the same port?

You just do specify the same port as you use with dyndns. That was what I did, and I now can use either adresses to connect to my music box.

when you register your domain...is there a waiting time for it to work?..
i started it but i couldnt connect internally and my daughter couldnt connect externally

does the upnp need to be checked for subsonic.org to work?
or can that stay unchecked?

appreciate the help

For me it worked right away, and I believe it is ment to do that.

If you have not manually set up port forwarding, you will need to check upnp and hope that your router have been configured to support it.

In most routers there is a toggle to activate upnp.

Note that the port specified in the "Subsonic Configuration Tool" must be the same as the one specified in the "Settings->Network" tab in subsonic.

--------------------

Personally I am not that in favor of using upnp in the router because I imagine that malware more easily can set up a port for remote access to the computer through that. But I guess basic firewall programs on each machine should prevent malware from requesting such a port. - Maybe I am mistaken here and this is not a problem.

I too have this same problem. Won't work on my iPhone or iPad as it used to. I have automatic port forwarding set up, and even have the port forwarded in my router's settings but it still doesn't work. I didn't do anything to the settings prior to the server's malfunction.

I really love Subsonic but I can see myself using iTunes Match is looking better and better each day.

You'll need to test with canyouseeme.org using your chosen port # to ensure it's available over the WAN. If canyouseeme cannot see you, neither can any apps. Often, a reboot of the router after making any changes fixes this, but I can also say an outage/reboot of the router can also cause this, as it did for me, in inclement weather. If automatic forwarding isn't getting the job done, you'll need to do so manually. G'Luck!
