Celeron E3300 (dual-core) 775LGA
2GB RAM
2x2TB
1TB OS Drive
Windows 7 32bit
I have noticed lately when my server is streaming a video (1 user) it runs atleast at 80% utilization. Most of my vids are mp4 and divx so ffmpeg is trancoding. If i upgrade my CPU how much will it help? Also should i be looking at #ofcores or clock speed? Any suggestions i have about 200-50 for an upgrade? Thanks

A dual core processor that uses anything less than 100% CPU should have enough CPU. If a system hits 100% CPU utilization for a sustained period, the system becomes compute bound during that period. So, if the maximum utilization of your system is never more than 80% (or more accurately, never hitting 100%), then any performance issue is not with the CPU. If it is hitting 100%, then it may be an issue with the CPU not having enough processing power. If it were me, I would also check the other performance factors. Disk I/O, memory utilization, and especially disk fragmentation. Even if a hard disk is large, if it is badly fragmented then the heads will begin to thrash.
Also, if you go to Start > Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools, what are your subscores for all of your components?
