Couldn't play FLACs, but now Tomcat wont start!

Postby ghostcorps » Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:57 am

Hi Guys,

I am using FreeBSD 8.2.

I have been using the standalone version for a while now and while it did occasionally crash it was working fine, but then I downloaded a number of FLAC albums and they would not play.

So I decided to install the full version and see if that would work. So using the FreeBSB port system I installed Tomcat6 and Subsonic which worked immediately, it played FLACs and was much faster. BUT due to being in a /subsonic subdomain the redirect that I received after donating was broken.

I tried for hours to fix this with no success, I then decided to just rename /subsonic to /ROOT (after moving the original ROOT of course) but this did not work. Then after moving it all back, I was unable to get to anything except the index.html in ROOT, I could not get to the manager or subsonic, both attempts giving me the alert that the page was not accessible.

After an hour or so of googling I decided to just uninstall subsonic and Tomcat6 and try again. I uninstalled them, deleted the home folder and re installed.

Now Tomcat won't even start!! And to make things worse, it isn't writing any logs.

This is killing me, I can use the standalone app but it is unstable and means I can not listen to FLACs, what could I possibly have done wrong? Surely after deleting /usr/local/apache-tomcat-6.0 and reinstalling it should all be back to scratch.

Thanks for your time

I just tried to watch a movie on the old unmodified standalone installation and am getting 'video not found or acces denied' ! ? :(

Why did it all implode on me?! I didn't change anything :(

I have Tomcat started again, but am still getting this:

Code: Select all
HTTP Status 404 - /manager/

type Status report

message /manager/

description The requested resource (/manager/) is not available.

Apache Tomcat/6.0.35
