I've been experimenting a lot to try and figure out how SubSonic is to be used, and the 'Player' selection is very confusing.
[I have since confirmed that each 'Player' is restricted to a single user and a single device.]
[Since the Queue is also restricted to a single Player, this kinda rules out any Multiuser user use.]
see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8324
What I have found:
--The Jukebox Player--
-Create user1 and user2 with all privileges ticked ON.
-Set player to JukeBox.
-Login as user1 on laptop1
-Queue a song, let's say ABBA.
-Login as user2 on laptop2
(Queue does not show ABBA)
-enqueue another song, say BEATLES.
(Queue on laptop2 shows BEATLES, while ABBA plays)
-Look back at laptop1
(queue shows ABBA only, no BEATLES)
-Refresh browser => no change
-Logout, then log back in => no change
-meanwhile ABBA is finished, but BEATLES does not play.
-On Laptop2 clicking [stop] then [play] sets BEATLES playing.
The 'Now Playing' shows ABBA on laptop1 and BEATLES on laptop2.
More than one person logged in just does not seem to work properly.
It seems that the player and the Queue are tied together, so that no two users can ever look at the same queue, even when interacting with the same Player/Device (the Jukebox).
I tried the 'Clone' function, it duplicates a Player, but the 'ownership' (the name in brackets) cannot be changed, so user1 has two copies, while user2 has none.
--The Web player-
It looks like each login using the web player gets it's own auto-created 'playerNN' with it's own queue; inaccessible to any other user.
And the queue is inaccessible on any other device , even with the same user logged in in two locations.
i.e. Adding a song to Player10 on one computer does not add to the queue of Player10 on another computer.
Maybe this is how it is supposed to work, I dunno?
Can anyone shine some light on this?
Maybe I just don't know how to use it yet...
