LastFM scrobbling issue

Postby FromTheYear2046 » Thu May 09, 2013 8:31 pm

Anyone having issues with iSub or Subsonic (playing through browser) registering plays to LastFM?

My Subsonic log shows that it's registering (only via browser play).
[5/9/13 1:19:21 PM PDT] DEBUG AudioScrobblerService Successfully registered now playing for song 'Together' for user ***** at Last.fm: Thu May 09 13:19:20 PDT 2013
[5/9/13 1:19:22 PM PDT] DEBUG AudioScrobblerService Successfully registered submission for song 'Together' for user ***** at Last.fm: Thu May 09 13:19:21 PDT 2013

BUT when I check my LastFM account, it doesn't show up from either source. I have been trying to figure this out the last few days to no avail. Any help or tips would be much appreciated!

Subsonic version: 4.8 (build 3434) – April 17, 2013
Server: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_26, Windows 7 (45.9 MB / 84.1 MB)

Although I did a search "LastFM scrobbling" in the search box, I did not get the following result. I found this possible fix within the "Help" thread.
I have not tried it yet, but it seems DELETING one of the player profiles and setting it up again alleviated the scrobbling issue for a couple of people.

Here is one of the solutions. Again, I'll resort to this if I can't find another solution and post my results.

Ok, I tried deleting the player profiles, created new ones, cloned some and it did NOT fix the issue.

One thing, I began checking my Chrome browser. I have had "JavaTM" disabled (Chrome plugin settings. This is different than Javascript which is and should be enabled).
My JavaTM has been disabled for many months now because of security concerns with it being enabled.

So just to test, I just enabled/updated JavaTM within Chrome and Rebooted pc and again tried playing tracks via Subsonic browser and still no scrobbling showing on LastFm.
I also launched Subsonic and LastFM on Safari. Played several tracks all the way through, waited and still not getting any scrobbling.

As it appears, I'm still having issues getting LastFM to scrobble anything from Sonicsub. If anyone has similar issues and discovers a fix please add to this post. Thank you.

last.fm scrobbling is currently working fine for me. It's always worth checking last.fm system status as they are not the most reliable guys:

http://status.last.fm/

Your log entries also indicate successful submissions which rules out the other thing I would normally suggest, making sure your user name and password are entered correctly. You're sure you're using the account you intend to?

[edit]: I am NOT using SS 4.8...wonder if it got broke in the new version. Anyone?

*** FIXED ***

Ok, it seems all is back to normal. It appears I was testing Scrobbling with a certain New Soundtrack album that just got released this past Tuesday. When I played a track from a separate older folder, it worked.
Anyways, this certain soundtrack did not have the proper ID tags for the Album nor the Artists. So I made sure to disable "read only" on the actual soundtrack folder (win7). And then I went into the Subsonic browser (via Chrome), pulled up the soundtrack and updated the tags for each song properly. (Just to clarify, I did go back and disable JavaTM for security purposes in the browser. So this does not need to be enabled nor should it be.)

NOW LastFM recognizes the songs and properly scrobbles them. Only if I play them via the browser. It will not scrobble via iPhone, whether remote(jukebox) or standard play.
This is what I get when I play it from the iPhone, "Error in REST API: EofException". I know this is a known bug but wasn't sure if it was only for jukebox mode or for all ways of playing remote.

Well, for the most part I know the problem was LastFM did not recognize the Album name or Artists all together. This is why it was not Scrobbling.

Okay, thank you!
