HTTP 503 error

Postby wbc4651235 » Sat Aug 09, 2014 7:03 pm

I am receiving the HTTP 503 error now and this started after a power outage that occurred today. I did uninstall the 4.9 version and re-installed 4.8 but I still am receiving the error. I did also try the 5.0 beta that is out there and had the same issue. I have confirmed that I have all of my ports set properly and the program is running. I pulled the subsonic-service log and I see some errors in there however I am sure what they mean exactly and how to correct. I have done multiple uninstalls and re-installs and I am still getting that error. I see where some people have mentioned to delete or move your db file, but I am not seeing that in my Subsonic C drive folder. I also stopped all of my Java processes and stopped and restarted Subsonic and that didn't work either. I am just wanting to start from scratch at this point and reload everything, but I am not able to get to that point even. I am using Windows 7. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I had the same problem, and I'm not sure the exact cause, but I think it is a database issue and I was able to find a solution. Like you, I uninstalled 4.9 and replaced it, except I replaced it with 5.0 beta 2. To my surprise, this did not solve the problem. I discovered that C:\subsonic is a directory that does not get removed when uninstalling, even when using Revo Uninstaller, so I poked around and saw a db folder. I deleted the directories C:\subsonic\db and C:\subsonic\db.backup along with all of their contents. After this I was able to regain browser access and was able to start from scratch.

I think i have the same 503 problem since 5.0beta1 (I'm currently on 5.0beta2 and haven't upgraded my NAS's firmware for longer) on an ARM Qnap box. Strangely enough when I acces Subsonic from local IP, the message is 'Service Temporarily Unavailable. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.'
Restarting the server helps for a while, but at some point it locks out again. Both through the web interface and the Dsub app.
I assume deleting the DB folder removes all historic settings and users, passwords etc?

Is this really necessary to get everything stable again?

edit: after restarting Subsonic, a Python 2.6 instance is spiking resources for some time. When this Python finishes whatever it was doing, Subsonic is accessible again. Could this be related?
