No Animated GIF as avatars????

I uploaded a small animated gif file to our subsonic page as my avatar, but it doesn't actually animate. Why wouldn't this work? It's just a web page, this kinda blows my mind.

I think subsonic is just made to have just png.

Can it be a feature request? It's not like it doesn't support .GIF, it just doesn't animate. I honestly don't understand why it doesn't work, it's a webpage that we're talking about. Ani-GIFs are certainly supported in all web browsers. Anyway, it's obviously no big deal, but it would be cool if it worked.

If it's just for your avatar, animated GIFs *should* work - they just have to be a certain size. I've been successful using them so long as they're scaled to 50x50 pixels. There are utilities such as gifsicle that will do the conversion without issue.
