Chrome Dropping support for Plugins in September 2015

Postby NyvenZA » Mon Sep 07, 2015 4:55 pm

I don't know how many people are aware of this yet, but the Chromium project that Chrome is based on, is officially dropping support for plugins in September 2015 ( Chrome 45).
From the page:

Alternatives to NPAPI
With the deprecation of NPAPI, some developers have asked which modern technologies can be used to implement features which in the past would have relied on a platform-specific NPAPI plug-in. In answer to these questions we have composed the following list of common NPAPI use cases and web platform alternatives.
In general, the core standards-based web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) are suitable for most client software development. If your application requires access to features outside the web sandbox, myriad Chrome Extension and App APIs offer access to OS features.

I assume that the default player , Flash, will stop working at that point.

Is there any change that an HTML 5 native player (Just the player, not an entire page) can be made as an optional player on the settings screen. This should then just replace the flash player at the bottom of the page.

This is what it would look like: (From the Wikipedia Page)

OK, So I have been searching the forums and found this port
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15899&p=68567&hilit=html5#p68567

I tested to access my site using Opera with out flash and the player changed the HTML 5 player. Will see if i can block chrome from using flash and if it then also works.
