problems with Subsonic app on Android

I am suddenly seeing these two problems:

1) When I tap on the "Library" view, and navigate to my folder in which I store movies ("Movies"), I see all the subfolders I created for some movies within "Movies", but I can't see the individual movie files within the top level folder "Movies" that are not in a subfolder under "Movies".

2) There are some movies that, when I play them on the android device using the subsonic app, there is no audio. But, this is only a problem for some movies. Others are just fine. If I play that movie on the android device from that exact same file using an alternative to Subsonic - e.g., Emby - it plays just fine.

I've searched online, found nothing that helps, and I've run out of ideas on how to diagnose and fix these problems.
