Since my Subsonic server is generally used only by me, the chat feature isn't really something I use. I also don'[t know of many apps that support it, even though the API is there, partly because many are designed for mobile and you shouldn't be texting in your car.
So really, I wonder if there's much use for adding chat support to a desktop or tablet app, and on the TV showing chats as they happen but not chatting back, since that would be very tedious without a keyboard. If such a feature existed, would you use it or just turn it off as being clutter?
