Genre issues

Postby santyjazz » Fri May 26, 2017 7:25 pm

Hi all in Subsonic and congratulations to all of you for such a great software, amazing!!! very happy with it! I have just one problem with some of the genres of my albums, instead to the normal genre, Subsonic put a number, like 8, 12, 24... I've double checked all these albums outside Subsonic and the genre is ok, not these numbers. I've read that the software has still some issues with the genre. It's anyone else with same issue? Weirddddd :D Solutions?

Thanks again!!

The numbered genres, I *think*, come from ID3 version 1 tags, which fixed the set of possible entries. In ID3v2 they allowed arbitrary text. The library that subsonic uses is assuming v2 text, so it isn't translating the genre to a string if the files are really old and still using v1.

Hi Acroyear and thanks for your answer. So, according to your comment, some of my audio files still are using ID3 v1 tags.... I think I've upgraded most of them to v2 but obviously, if you're right, some still have the v1. It's funny because I have installed in my mac, Yate a very nice ID3 tags editor and when I put there some of the audio files with the number genre and it's showing the right genre, not number. Maybe I should try another editor. Do you know some good ID3 tag editor for mac?

Thanks again!!
