Artist Radio Question

I love the Artist Radio feature of Subsonic, but it doesn't work the way I would expect. Namely, the actual Artist the radio is based on doesn't actually appear in the list of songs that get generated. For instance, if I pick a Ray Lamontagne artist radio, I get a list of songs from similar artists but none by Ray himself. Is that the way it was designed or is there some other issue I'm not aware of?
