absolutely, add me to this of incredibly grateful users. subsonic meets and surpasses all of my music streaming needs. but one of the things that always comes up in conversation when I tell others about subsonic is the ridiculously active and helpful developer. Sindre you are really something. thanks for all you do.

+1

Subsonic is great! I was thinking about subscribing to Rhapsody, Mog, or Spotify because of the limited SD storage on my Droid. I found subsonic, donated immediately, and enjoy my music on my Droid, iPod touch, Work Desktop, girlfriend's phone, etc.

So much awesome in so many different places.

I started trying to manage my music using RealAudio and MusicMatch. Every few months a 'better' solution would come along and I'd move to that.

I have been using Subsonic for a few years now - it is fantastic! Plus, Sindre implemented one of my suggestions which was the jukebox mode...love it!

Thanks Sindre!

PS: Plus amazingly quick response when I've had a few glitches with my paid license.

Subsonic was just was I was looking for. It makes a library for my family's music that we can put in one place and all the CD's can stay in storage. Thanks for making something that solved my needs

Thank you Sindre :).

Subsonic is exactly what I was looking for ever since I bought a decent smartphone :). Donated within an hour of using it. It's great.

The three things I am most glad about:
- It supports FLAC from the moment I install it.
- I can browse everything by file structure, no silly Apple-behaviour of having to browse it all by tags! (It would cost me weeks to tag it all in a way I like.)
- Simple and easy :). It simply worked. Can't say that of many server-client software combinations I tried out for Android.

Pff, this Android app even has things I didn't expect: notification bar information and quick-access to the app :).

My next donation will come (at the latest ;)) when it works as flawlessly with video as it does with audio :D. By that time I won't ever need any other media app on my phone.

I have to say, I've played with a lot of software over the years... and of everything I've played with Subsonic is probably the most life changing. I didn't realize I needed a new media player...but I could never go back now. :)

It's almost mind boggling how many ways there are to access the collection now.

Subsonic continues to amaze and inspire

Postby librainian » Wed Aug 11, 2010 1:10 am

I started with it to stream to my laptop from my desktop pc but it's become so much more useful than that. I registered tit to play with the Droid app on my wife's phone. It was good enough to prompt me to buy my own. Now I'm experimenting with using my phone in jukebox mode as a universal media remote. Subsonic has it's quirks but all in all it's been a smooth ride!

I downloaded SubSonic and installed it on my desktop to mess around with it and see how it works. Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. It worked GREAT, however the service kept dying, but I don't blame that on Subsonic, I blame that on Windows... It's a desktop and running web services is not what it was really meant for...

Sooooo... with the trials I have been doing on it, I knew it would work better under Linux. I was going to set up a dedicated Ubuntu Server 10.04 box for it, but then thought I would give it a shot integrating it into my FreeNAS box.

The tutorial that was up was good, but incomplete, at least for the latest versions of both apps.

Regardless, I was bound and determined to get it running. After much trial, error and searching, I FINALLY got it going!! (posted a How-To as well).

Since then it has been running beautifully!!! I have a really nice cable connection at home with a LOT of bandwidth in and out. So I decided to put the client on my Nexus One (rooted running a custom Android 2.2 ROM) and it's been flawless. I have access to HUNGREDS of gigs of music without having to worry about storage on my device!!! LOVE IT!!!

So the wife, mother in law, 2 kids and a few friends (a couple who are deployed over seas in the war zone) have all jumped on the bandwagon and at any given time, there are 5-6 people streaming music off my server and I have had nothing but VERY POSITIVE feedback from EVERYONE.

My friends deployed overseas have become very popular because they can set up their laptops with speakers and listen to whatever they want. They put in requests for music and I do my best to fill them ASAP. This has helped them out a lot.

Thanks again for this application and I hope to be able to donate additional money as soon as I can get money together for you. This is worth SO MUCH more than anything I can afford. :)
