Helo Eric,

I have subsonic XO Commander installed v0.2.2 and it cannot link with my subsonic server. I can connect to the server via other pc's on the network (wirelessly). I have attempted on both a touchpad, and a palm pre+ (v1.45). I also have successfully PINGed the server from each device.

The symptom that I see on the XObeta is a spinning disc to the right of the address of the subsonic server.

Am I missing something? I have tried thi with multiple users that I have created.

Thanks for any support you can provide,

Adam

Hmm. There's an interesting problem in the Subsonic server itself, that I think may possibly be behind this. Start XO, ensure that your server name, username, password are correct. If you make any changes, close XO and restart it again, just to make sure that it sticks. if it doesn't ping successfully then (loading indicator stops, shows the server status), then try restarting the device, as well as stopping and restarting the Subsonic server. There's a problem in the server where it will sometimes continue operating with the initial credentials given to it from a particular client, even if you change the user/password given, and I'm wondering if that also affects even when a username/password is incorrect.

Another thing to try, would be just trying to send some requests like for an album list or something, and see if it takes it. I have seen my server completely ignore the license info and ping requests for quite some time, but it responds to other requests fine.

Please let me know :)

I still am not successful. I have rebooted all devices; server, TP & Pre. Is there a way to see a log of what is potentially causing the problem?

I CAN ping the server successfully.

My current setup is for port 81, though I have tried 8080 as well

thanks for any help you can provide.

Also, I have installed the updates for v0.3.0

It seems that the problem is that I'm not expecting "http://" or "https://" on the front of the server address.. so if you have that.. take it off. :)

For anyone who's not yet checked out the alpha/beta version, here's some screens of how we're progressing ..

Getting very close to calling this 1.0.

ok, blog site for XO setup at http://ericbla.de/gvoice-webos/xo

Demo version in the HP App Catalog.

If you haven't been paying attention to my pages, the updates have become much fewer and farther between because (a) we're much closer to release (b) i'm now employed full time (c) a major bug cropped up in the last update for my other app, so my free time has been spent tracking that down.

So, hopefully a full version will be available in the catalog soon, but still definitely seeking feedback on the demo and betas. Over a thousand installs of the demo, and I haven't heard much of anything from anyone :D

Trying out the XO beta and I'm excited to help test.

What is the format of the Server Address field? It would be helpful to have the example in the hint.

Do you support HTTPS?

it's host:port#

ie:

ericbla.de:88

for mine.

There was a bug earlier that made it very angry if you specified http or https in front. I'm not sure if that got fixed in the last beta catalog version, I know it's fixed in the dev tree right now, which I'm HOPING to get time to kill the last two MAJOR problems in it, and get it out to the main catalog today or tomorrow.

It doesn't currently support https, as webOS does not support downloading via https by itself. I've recently learned how to achieve that, however retrofitting the program to do that will significantly delay release, so I'm choosing to NOT do that for v1.0.

After 1.0, I intend to basically re-do it with the new version of the Enyo tools, which will hopefully allow for a lot more flexibility, as well as re-doing some bits that are probably not done as well as they could be.

But I will do everything I can to get this in for approval this weekend.

1.0.0 has been submitted to HP for approval, as well as an updated demo that has all the fixes between 0.4.1 alpha and 1.0.0, as well as working buttons for the demo-specific things.

And, now, to speak of the future: If there's enough interest, I plan to take everything that I've learned here writing this, and re-do this in the new Enyo framework when the UI components for it start to become available towards the end of the month. My current plan (although this may change) is to simply plug in Enyo 2.0, and fix the current one to work with it, and then construct an all new interface, that isn't based loosely on Sindre's Android interface. When I started the project, I had no idea where to start with it, so I used that interface for inspiration. Now that I've got a program that I've been able to use fully for most of the last month, I've got a lot better idea of what can be done and how to do things hopefully better. So far, it's been a 3 month journey, so I don't expect a version 2 to take much less time than that.

Of course, there will be updates made to v1 when necessary, I'm not going to just abandon it.

I can live without https for now.

either I'm entering it wrong or you don't seem to support subdirs. Since subsonic can be run as a jar from other java servers, it won't always be at the root. Supporting and calling it a URL would be a good thing in my opinion.

I'll try removing the /subsonic tomorrow and report back. My current URL like:

http://host:80801/subsonic

which doesn't work as far as I can tell.

eblade you can count me interested in this.

I turned off https and removed the /subsonic and have finally gotten XO to connect. I'm now listening to an album in jukebox mode, :D

I could not get local play to work. When I drag a song to the playlist the icon just stays there hovering. I can drag the icon back off and it will go away bigot don't play locally. Like I said jukebox works.

I'm using beta labeled 0.4.1. Can you push the 1.0 release into the beta channel so I can test against that version until HP approves it ?

thanks. I'm excited.

umm.. i don't know of any reason why it wouldn't accept subdirectories, although it might be fiddly about having a trailing slash or not. I can certainly give that a shot, if you can either tell me a way to configure Subsonic to work that way, or if I could get a guest account on yours ?

I can't think of any possible reason why local playback wouldn't work, unless something has gone weird in the sound driver, which usually causes all sounds to fail, and is pretty rare if ever on webOS 3.0.5 (though it was relatively common on 3.0.2 or so i think) .. Is it possible that your user account on subsonic isn't configured for remote streaming?

Glad to hear the Jukebox mode works for someone else, I haven't tested it extensively, and not in some time. My media server is connected to an old CRT TV, and my TouchPad sounds better than it does :)
