i've uninstalled normal subsonic app and installed latest version from this topic. i still get the error message while i'm on 3G. on wifi no problem! listening while connected to 3G has never been a problem on gingerbread 2.3.6. since i upgraded to ICS i have this problem.

maybe my problem is different because nobody in this topic talks about the error "host name may not be null"

HTC Sensation with ICS 4.0.3
Subsonic 4.6
Running VM Subsonic standalone, v4.6 on Debian with ESXi5.1 as host. 512mb memory limit

I have the same problem as torgull, and wrote about it in this thread.

I tried connecting to a friend's server and got the same error. When I used his phone to mine or his server it worked like a charm.

I was hoping installing this apk was going to help since it was compiled with the ICS/4.0 SDK, but it didn't fix the issue.

This is an issue with many media players on ICS. You may want to check out Media Button Router or a similar app on the Market for a workaround until everyone updates their code or Google fixes whatever is wrong on their end.

The app works fine for me. I tried it because I was having problems with the one on the market. However, like the one on the Market, I am unable to play all of my music. Probably 40% will not play. The track and album art load up, but no music is played. I thought this could be due to file format, but that does not seem to be the case. I only use ogg and mp3. The files play fine on the subsonic browser interface on my PC. Anyone have this problem?

Media Button Router is a decent option, but me being the perfectionist, I'd prefer for the app to work as intended. After digging a bit more, I found these two links to be useful:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues ... =23172#c28
http://code.google.com/p/media-button-r ... l?id=10#c5

Apparently before ICS, android would transmit a KeyEvent.KEYCODE_MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE. Now there are seperate play and pause commands sent. Since the codes changed, it explains why Subsonic does nothing.

Haxamatic, could you put this fix in your code and release a new apk? If not, could you share your SVN code so I can investigate putting a fix in and providing a patch back to you? I'll be browsing the SVN source in the mean time learning how to fix the code. Thanks.

Good news! I was able to take the SVN code and modify it to work with ICS and the new bluetooth play/pause commands.

Take the new apk for a spin if you wish. If you have already installed haxzamatic's apk, please remove it before installing this one. Note this is the stock code, so it does not have any of haxzamatic's modifications in it.

What are your APN settings I had to change mine from port 80 to a blank entry. Then it worked fine so did everything else.

I'm just getting back to work on the app today :) Hope to have a new build soon, I thought I posted the version with the overflow for galaxy nexus. I may need help with the choppiness too, I'm a svn noob so I may put the source on git or something...

Cool. can't wait to see the next version. Hopefully it will include a smaller widget.

Btw, is there a way to disable sleep when streaming? Having that option can be good.

I am also experiencing the Host name null issue. Only happens when using mobile data, not wifi.

The solution is the APN as mentioned previously. You must remove the port and/or proxy address.

Delighted

For what it's worth, I'm not having the host name null issue. I've used it on Wifi, 3g and 4g.

I am running this on the HP TouchPad with CM9 Alpha 0.5 - the 3 dot menu button doesn't work so I cannot get into the settings. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just noticed another bug: subsonic doors not play well with the new "deep idle" feature that's popping up with the new ics kernels. The app would run fine, but when it is not actively streaming and the screen is off, the phone would occasionally hard freeze.

I have to do more testing, but so far I can reproduce this bug constantly. The freeze usually happens within one hour of playback.

Of course it will freeze - what do expect of an ice cream sandwich

Sorry it was a dig at whoever names these droid releases
Even my wife when she was pregnant didn't have food fetishes like the droid devs :|
