Jukebox player doesn't work

I installed the latest SS (version 4.7.beta3 (build 3060)) on a new Ubuntu box (uname -a returns "Linux hostname 3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux"). I also configured my well-ordered music folder, and all is well, the subsonic installation can be reached through the proper URL and it can be used to play songs on the client machine. Wonderful.

Now that server machine also has some speakers attached to it, and I'd like to even attach it to my stereo and play music in the "Jukebox Player" mode. I first checked the alsa configuration and, after raising the volume to 100%, I was able to play a wav file through the command line (i.e. "aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav " works like a charm).

I configured a player (in Settings / Player) to use Jukebox mode instead of Web Player mode. But somehow, I can't play songs using that player. Is there anything special that I need to consider? I couldn't find any error relating to jukebox mode in /var/subsonic/*.log

I found the solution myself, using this topic here:
` viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2038

I needed to find out the Java names of my sound devices, choose the right one, and add it to /usr/bin/subsonic in a line as documented above:
'-Djavax.sound.sampled.SourceDataLine=#NVidia [plughw:0,7]' \

Maybe this could be added to the FAQ so other people find it more easily?

That may not solve it depending on your configuration. I had to use the proprietary Java package.

The ideal solution to this would be to improve the interface. A UI element for selecting the hardware output device is what's needed.
