Hi.

Is there an option to set the Recently added at startup screen and not the Random?

I don't think it's possible in vanilla Subsonic, only in the modded versions (MusicCabinet / Madsonic, found here: viewforum.php?f=8 )

generally i like your way of thinking. only downer with it is (at least for me, when i run updates) that only about 50 to 75% of the newly added files actually show up as newly added :( (thats for me using ss4.6 on linux). was from the start like that and never changed with all kind of 'solutions'. not a major issue (i know what i added), but annoying still.

I primarily use Madsonic for day to day use although I try to keep all the most recent variants up to date. All of the 4.7 variants I use correctly display new content after the nightly scan has run.

With either the Madsonic or the Music Cabinet you can easily select several start default views without editing jsp files as would be required in the standard Subsonic release.

If for some reason i decided to revert to an earlier Subsonic because of something I didn't like in 4.7, I'd actually go back to 4.5 instead of 4.6. 4.5 had fewer problems than 4.6 and was great for music only playback. 4.7 is much faster than previous versions, but does have its own set of issues.

I'm actually considering redoing a 4.5 site to test some of the problems we see with the Android app in 4.7 using Jelly Bean.

Unless you have a specific feature you like in 4.6, I think you'd like 4.5 or 4.7 much better. 4.6 had real problems with estimating track lengths.

With the 4.7 variants you can sometimes run into missing folders, but so far it has always been easy to fix by disabling all the media folders, cleaning the db, then reenabling and rescanning.

well, 4.7 is out of question still (i posted somewhere else, dont really remember about that), it just still never gets done with a db update (so far up to nearly a week and not able to add/ update 500k plus files. it starts zippy gets slow and comes to a standstill.
4.6 works usually fine, just the weird stats info in the left pane :), some other (for me) minor issues as well.
i believe you that 4.5 might be better.... i am sure it has it own sets of bugs ;) . sticking for now with 4.6, since i spend endless time to go to all the forums and eliminated the (for me) annoying stuff.
looking forward to a user friendly 4.7. so far sandbox install on its on pc cant impress.
