I paid for the SubSonic server because I wanted to contribute to the creator(s) of this useful utility, and because I planned to use it once I had an Android device. I now have an Android tablet and have been overall very pleased. It's been very nice to have remote access to my large music collection.
I have recommended SubSonic to friends and clients for some years. I have set it up on the systems of some clients, and assisted them with the Android app as well.
As of a recent update, the Android app now displays ads -- and it requires payment to remove them. The update gave no obvious alert of the change, nor offered alternatives. I applied it with a sense of trust.
I am, quite simply, enraged.
I like SubSonic, and I would like to continue using it and recommending it. Therefore I have just one question:
If I pay for the Android app, will I ever, ever, EVER again see the rules changed underfoot? Will someone's profit motive ever again take such insulting precedence over prior arrangements?
If I don't see a satisfactory answer to this question, I am DONE with this app, I will cease to use it, and I will not ever again recommend it, except negatively, to any friend or client.
