What Hardware

Hello @all Subsonic Users :)
At the moment I am running my subsonic on my normal computer. But sure this is not very efficient.
So I thought of a better solution. But my problem is that I can't estimate how much "power" subsonic /musiccabinet needs.
I only use it for Music (no videos).

I thought if maybe a Odroid with Linux would be good. http://www.hardkernel.com/renewal_2011/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G135235611947
But once I installed an App on my Galaxy S2 and converted a .wav to mp3. It was perhaps 1X or 1.5X speed.
So my question is: Do ARM devices have enough encoding power? (for example for FLAC -> MP3).

What would you recommend me as a "normal" energy saving cpu setup with decent power?
(I could for example make a software RAID5 with some iCore ?!)

Thats my second question:
Is it better (in case of RAID 5) to get a small PC with perhaps i5 so that I have enough power for a software RAID.
Or is it better to buy an expensive RAID Controller? :D

Thank you for your advice!!

There's also I Pi thread, NAS threads, Pogoplug (and other 'Plug' computer) threads...I wonder if it isn't time to separate out a specific hardware section here in General...

I'm using this with an ODroid-U2. Check this post out:

I'm using my home PC (Windows 7/64bit)
CPU - 2600K @ 4.4GHz (Watercooled to 23c with hard usage)
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (1864MHz)
Radeon 6970's in crossfire (4GB)
15TB HDD in random mode
Some overpriced, stupidly named Creative soundcard with a break out box, that I am too embarrassed to actually name in adult company
Asus Mainboard (Z68 chipset)
Corsair 600T SE case (keeps the airflow nice and cool)
And a bunch of other stuff

1 regular user (yes, you read that correctly!) and no, it's not me.
100Mb fibre* connection
4.2TB of content as of me typing this (almost all copyleft or public domain from netlabels)

* I'm English, so the 'e' comes at the end
