sorting issue

Postby housekat » Fri May 30, 2008 4:01 pm

Tracks using special characters in its name are sorted wrong in the album view.
As an example i have a french album. The origin tracknames in the folder are:

01-L'école_du_micro_d'argent.flac
02-Dangereux.flac
03-Nés_sous_la_même_étoile.flac
...

Although all files are starting with numbers subsonic lists the tracks in wrong order starting with "Dangereux" and the other files are listed behind "Dangereux" like "03-Ns_sous_la_mme_toile".
It seems you're not using a sorted list of the filesystem (windows and linux may have problems with different codepages but at least they will show the correct order). So i suppose you implemented your own sort and all non-latin names are simply trailed at the end of the list.

I hope the description is detailed enough? Maybe the tracknumber from the tags can be considered? Or maybe you can use a sorted list from the filesystem? Best of all would be support of the non-latin characters

However thanks for creating this very useful software :D

Hi,

Subsonic does use the track number in the tags, and also tries to guess the track number from the title. To troubleshoot this further, can you please check the tags of these files (in particular "Dangereux")? If the track number in the tag is 0 or 1, that explains why it is first in the list.

Hope this helps,
Sindre

very fine! :D

Thank you, this was a good hint! But there is different trouble. I opened "Edit tags" from subsonic but all the tracks including special characters were not listed there. I had a look at the file attributes on my server but the files are all readable. So i took the tracks and opened them in foobar - everything is fine and the tags (tracknumbers) are set correctly on all tracks.
Any further suggestions? Thank you!
