iPod support

Postby theawesomestnerd » Sun Apr 07, 2013 6:35 am

Hi, I'm new to the whole subsonic experience, and I have an iPod classic 160gb. Does subsonic support the iPod by chance? If not, are there any subsonic apps that would? I'd love to find an alternative to iTunes and Mediamonkey.

Uh subsonic is a streaming media server. The iPod Classic has no internet connectivity.

No, but it has wifi, which means streaming apps could act as an alternative to the ipod's music app.

Some apps could also substitute for home sharing on older iOs that don't support it.

This is truly a case of apples and oranges.

The iPad is the classic paradigm for portable personal music playback, It is a device that stores all the music on the device itself and is therefore limited to the total storage capacity of the device.

Subsonic is designed for streaming from a central music server that has far more storage capacity but plays back to a device that does not need to store the music on the device itself with the exception of a small cache.

The catch with Subsonic is that you do need a reliable data connection between the server and the portable device.

Yeah - sorry bout that. I never did get iMania. If you listen to music on an iPod, are you supposed to watch video on an earPad?

I never did get the whole Apple craze.
