I would like others to be able to listen to music in my collection and, to avoid copyright infringement, not permit downloads on some items. Any way to selectively disable this feature?

This should be part of the settings under Users, for any given user. Simply uncheck 'user is allowed to download' and Save.

There is no option to manage download options per song or folder. I think that's what he means with 'some items'
