Streaming Remotely - Hardware

Postby heeby » Thu Dec 12, 2013 1:50 pm

Hi,

My subsonic server is remote - I access via the internet - VPN is not possible.

Currently I stream my music via mobile apps or a browser on my PC.
If I want to listen to music elsewhere in the house I have to connect a Bluetooth speaker to my phone.

What I'd like to be able to do is either (a) use XBMC to play over my TV or (b) buy some hardware which would allow me to set ip address; username; password and stream that way.

FYI I just can't get the subsonic app for XBMC to work - I assume it;'s because the server is remote.

A quick search on amazon doesn't provide any clues as to hardware which would work.

Subsonic absolutely rocks.. this is the missing piece of the jigsaw!

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Don't know if this is of any help to you but have you ever looked into a Raspberry-Pi?
For less then $60 you get a small computer which runs XBMC.
