Hi-
I am in the process of kicking the tires on Subsonic. I hit the 65K track limit on Sonos and stumbled across this as a possible alternative, so i am giving it a whirl before dumping Sonos altogether.
I'm setting this all up on a Windows PC running Window 7, with various drives connected directly to it which contain my digital music library. I "think" that i've got Subsonic set up properly. I've downloaded, installed, followed the directions to set up the Subsonic service in Sonos and enabled Sonos in Subsonic. I then tried a test case - I added a folder which (beneath it) contains my entire CD library (3000+ cd's). I saved my changes and this seems to work very well! So, i was encouraged. I can hit "Browse Library" in the Subsonic service, see my cd's, browse them and play them on my Sonos components. Very good!
However, i then went and added a second folder. Different drive, but physically hooked to the same computer. This folder contains hundreds of folders containing live recordings of shows that i have collected over the years. The files are almost exclusively in flac file format and each show is in its own folder. I was successful in adding the main folder ("Torrents - A-G", in this case). When i hit 'Browse Library", i can see my new folder. However, when i click into the folder, NONE of the subfolders display. The only thing that DOES display is an option for "Shuffle Play". When i click on that, i get the following error:
"Unable to play 'Shuffle Play' - the connection to Subsonic was lost"
I added the folder and did all of the above on the machine which physically contains my media, i see no reason for a "lost connection". I also don't see any practical reason why the subfolders under my main folder don't display. Can anybody give me any practical advice here? If i can get this to work, i think i'm "SOLD" on Subsonic as a supplement to Sonos, if i can index my whole media library.
thanx much!
