Permissions Issues

Postby godfearer » Sat Jan 02, 2016 7:14 pm

I have subsonic running on ubuntu 14.04. I have revised subsonic from default installation to run as user subsonic rather than user root. I have certain songs (mp3's) which the subsonic user does not have permission to play. This presents a couple of problems which I am trying to resolve.

Problem 1) - Songs which are not available based on permissions still show up in the song list. They should not be showing up.

Problem 2) - Songs which are not available based on permissions are listed in various playlists. When a playlists happens to try to play a song upon which no permissions are available, the playlist just stops playing rather than moving on to the next song.

Anyone have thoughts on what can be done to overcome either of these issues?

I believe it is because the internal database "still knows" these files exist even though the subsonic user does not have permissions to read these anymore.

To remove such files from the database, I would suggest you try "Cleanup database" under Settings > Media folders.
Here's the description of what this process should do:

Subsonic stores information about all media files ever encountered. By cleaning up the database, information about files that are no longer in your media collection is permanently removed.
