Where did the chromecast function for video go?

Seriously, NOBODY knows how to chromecast video from a subsonic 6 install? I find that hard to believe...

What am I doing wrong? t.t

Where is the Chromecast link for music? I must be blind because I don't see it anywhere.

I see it to the right of the "next track" button in the music playing frame along the bottom. The buttons I see are star, repeat, back, play/pause, next, and cast.

In addition, you should always be able to start a cast using the cast button along the address bar's row (at least, on my installs of chrome).

I don't use Subsonic for video, so I can't answer to those comments above.

My chromecast button by the play controls is gone. Anyone know what happened or how to get it back?

I have the same problem. I think it's due to a recent Chrome update. Madsonic has the same problem. It looks like Google has redesigned the casting interface, which may have broken Subsonic's ability to detect the device through the browser.

tl;dr: Chrome 52 changes how to detect and cast, and subsonic is currently broken and needs to c hange.

Chrome with 52 disabled the original "beta" Chromecast extension, which I think is what Subsonic et al is looking for. In addition, if you had the cast extension button up next to your address bar, it may have been removed.

The new cast feature is built-in to 52 and beyond. You should be able to see the icon next to the address bar (at least, I see it there on my mac, but I haven't tried a Windows machine yet), and you can drag it left-right along those buttons to the place you want it.

That said, because the casting is not actually triggered through the scripts that are in the player view, you end up casting the whole tab, not just the music (or video) stream, so there is still work to be done in subsonic to fix this.

I reinstalled the cast extension from the Chrome store, which put the cast icon back where it used to be in the extension bar. Subsonic still doesn't work.

I understand Google changed things under the hood. Just posting this so people don't think reinstalling the cast extension is going to fix the issue.

Since few weeks my chromecast icon disappeared from the subsonic desktop app.
It was always next to the musicplayer
The chrome icon is still there and works but I prefer to use the app. chromecast

One of the main reasons I bought subsonic is because of the ability to use chromecast.

Since the dev has stopped caring about anyone around here, I have looked into alternatives, and it's likely going to be emby. It has way better chromecast support (even though subsonic pre 6.0 was rather good for chromecast).

Plenty of other great stuff going on over there too, check it out. I've had enough of this dev's shit, like, x-fading was requested over 2 years ago and not even an acknowledgement... wtf.

Can we please get an update on re-establishing Chromecast within Subsonic
