Gapless playback?

How do I get Subsonic to play several tracks I've ripped from a CD as a single track, i.e., gapless -- without going back to the CD to rip all those tracks as a single track?

We finally got around to ripping our CDs, but around half of them -- everything from Floyd to Benjamin Britten and Richard Wagner -- are unplayable on Subsonic because of the gaps. The only solution I can see is to go back and rip the entire CD as one track, but in so doing, we'd lose the ability to index to a particular place on the album. And it would be time-consuming to re-rip.

Without gapless play, I'm going to have to rethink whether Subsonic is the right solution. We'll keep it for songs, but it's really limiting.

Currently using Subsonic as our home media server. It runs on Ubuntu and we access it through Mozilla or Chrome from most stationary devices. I run it on the Android client, too, from my car.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Dan

How does the gapless playback work with Dsub? Does it requre the track to be cached on the device and does it requre something from the source files?
