Reduce memory consumption

I'm running subsonic on CentOS 6.5 and it currently occupies around 2GB RAM (checked via htop). Is there a way to reduce the memory consumption except setting --max-memory? I've noticed that there are 22 subprocesses fired up 116MB each - if the memory is dependent on the processes count maybe with fewer processes we could get less memory consumption?
