how many clients does Subsonic server support?

Greetings!

A simple question I could not find an answer to, neither in the docs, nor in the forums:

how many clients can a Subsonic server support simultaneously?

Can it make 100, 500, 1000?

If not, are there any suggested proxying solutions?

Many thanks,
Sergei

Apparently, I can answer my question myself: since Subsonic is based on Jetty, all configurations to manage high loads should go via configuring Jetty, unless Subsonic does not allow for indefinite scaling.

Any additional input/experience will be highly appreciated,
Sergei

As I only use Subsonic for myself and a few friends I couldn't really say what the maximum number of users is.
I guess that in the end it all comes down to the bandwidth of your internet connection and the configuration of the machine that's running Subsonic.
If you have Subsonic running on a pc with a Celeron-cpu and 2 GB of ram, you'll soon discover that even 10 simultaneous users might be too much.
If the machine has an I7-cpu and 128GB of ram but your broadband connection is very limited in the upload speed you might experience the same problem.
Also you'll need to consider what you are streaming. Obviously streaming video is more bandwidth consuming than streaming audio.

Well, in fact you can use subsonic on tomcat, jetty, resin, etc by downloading only the war file.
