Album not on index but it shows on search

Postby Joppnl » Sat May 19, 2018 11:51 am

Hello,

can I please have your thoughts/support on this?

There are a lot of albums which do not show up when I use the A-Z index

I.e. take this artist (it's not limited to this artist, a lot more have same problem): Camila Cabello, you won't find it under the C index:

But....when a free search is done she is there as album artist:

As you can see in the picture above, she is also not listed under 'Artists' (therefore she can also not be found under the C in the subsonic index I guess).

However, as artist on 'album - artist' she is known.

I checked-double checked the meta-data and both artist and album artist are absolutely correct and the same:

So...what did I do more:
- checked the internet if I could find something about this
- checked this forum as well
- deleted the complete subsonic db, all files/artists were removed, did a full new scan but same-same
- wrote this message.....

The db is rather big...is there a maximum to the number of files/directories/artists in subsonic?

It looks like Subsonic is nut putting the artist name in the internal database but why....??

Running V6.1.1

Any thoughts/help welcome, thanks in advance!

The index depends on the folder-structure and the folder-levels of your defined-music folders.

Have a look at these if they are not always the same.

i.e.
If your music-folder is :"D:\Music\"
and the next level subfolder ist not the artist but maybe an album, the artist for this album will not show up in the index but the album itself will show up as artist.

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.... checked it...but...no... :(

Tis Camila album was stored onder the letter C (letter directly in root, external hdd) under the naam Camila Cabello - Camila (2018)

So...there you might have a point but...checked out other artists which are not visable in the A-Z index and a lot of them did follow the structure you mentioned like <root> \ <1st letter> \ <artistname> \ <alnum(s)> and a lot of them are not visable as well.

So....no clue yet.

Only solution is to do a search in the <search-box> and then the artist shows up but still...the A-Z index is not working right....

Any other thoughts / solutions welcome!

But to which level did you define the music-folder in settings?
I generally have no problems if I define the parent-folder of the artist-folders.

Well... the external harddisk is drive letter D: and in subsonic d:\ is defined as the location for music.

On this harddisk only music is in it. There are I guess 27..28 sub folders in it, A ..Z (26) and a folder 0..9.

Some artist in these folders show up...others don't, can't figure out why some do and some don't.

As the hdd is 8TB there is a lot of artists on it (it's not full though) so may-be it's the limiit of Subsonic or...?? no idea...

But thank you for thinking it over!
