Hi Sindre,

Do you have any update releases scheduled for Subsonic in 2018?

Love the entire product and am always excited to see what new features/looks get added to the new versions.

Thanks,
T

Well, SIndre hasn't been online for 6 month. So i assume there is something going on in his life on he currently has no time for Subsonic. Lets see if we get an update at some point how Subsonic will develop in the future.

Sadly Subsonic is being left behind with many similar web server scripts doing Alexa Skills google home skills and smart TV support. Is a great system don't get me wrong I just feel its falling behind.

To get to the point of being able to support many of those voice-services would require a major rewrite of its security/authentication model to support OAuth2. Google and Amazon's systems both require that. Now Java libraries exist for that, but it is still one hell of a rewrite and then you have to add in a migration system...and making it easier to drop in signed certs because neither Amazon nor Google's systems will support self-signed non-CA certs. I already have problems with that for Amazon Fire devices (esp Fire TV) - if it hits a self-signed cert, it just shuts the app down entirely, no way to safely handle it and try to find a workaround like hitting the http link.
