It's Dead, Jim?

I'll use subsonic for at least a decade now, but I'm sad that Sindre seem to have lost interest? Don't get me wrong, It's still nice and functional so far. But with the latest last.fm api change you won't get any artist pictures and stuff from it. I guess this has no priority to fix it (if it's even fixable). What you guys are doing? I love subsonic for it's sole purpose (i run plex for video and don't like their musicplayer plus several other things).

Is the development of any of the other branches more current and active?

Airsonic ( https://airsonic.github.io/) is an active fork of the last open-source release of Subsonic. Those developers have been relatively active (https://github.com/airsonic/airsonic/bl ... ANGELOG.md ). Other forks that are music-centric appears to have slowed or stopped development as far as I can see.

Gonna check airsonic as well.
Other alternatives like madsonic are unfurtutally unusable slow.

Maybe the owner will react when he wont get any money for licences in future.
But one thing makes me really mad, if he let it die, why not make it open source?!

:(

The main blocker for open source was he wanted to use a different video player, a commercial library, to get away from flash (this was pre-html5 reliable video days, things are different now I think). That was not something he could distribute while still keeping the rest of the source codes GPL.

Hope Sindre comes back at some point. Would be sad to see subsonic die that way. Iam a user since more then 10 years now and have no intention to switch.

I have been using the Music Cabinet fork since 2013. I switched to Music Cabinet because it had the Last FM APIs integrated years before Subsonic. Music Cabinet also has a much better DB, uses metatags for browsing by genre and so on. The developer hasn't touched the fork since 2013 and it still works better than Subsonic for my needs. Dsub and Isub both work great. I am not recommending you switch as it is unsupported. It is built on the open source code (pre 5.0 I think)

Recently the photo link to Last FM stopped working so I was checking the forums to see it this was still supported in Subsonic. Interesting to see the artist photo links are not working. I guess I will stay with the Music Cabinet fork. I also use Plex for video but prefer Music Cabinet for Music.

I wish I knew what changed in the API and how to fix...........

Edit - I did some digging and there isn't a fix available for broken link to LastFM Artist photos. LastFM pulled access to the photos due to possible copyright violations.

As long at we get keep getting one or two updates a year I'm good. Honestly, Subsonic is the best for Music and I have no intention on looking for anything else currently. If funding is a problem I'd like to hear about it. I'd be willing to contribute but I find it hard to pay when there is not even an update on the future of development or anything.

Has anyone a different adress from "mail@subsonic.org"?
I looked at twitter but the message function is disabled.
