random album art

Postby mcavity » Tue May 26, 2009 5:00 am

Hi,
I'm new to subsonic and I really like it however Im havign an odd issue with album art.
In general most of my files do not have any album art but I still see "album art" popping up in the sub sonic main screen. Now these album covers are incorrect most of the time [click on them and your will to get a selection of semi random songs from a given year]
Is there a way to remove these album pics?

I have done a search in each directory but i cant seem to find the art files. to simply delete.

8,594 artists
10,805 albums
34,653 songs
144.35 GB (~ 2,242 hours)

Some players, especially Windows Media Player is know to "fill up" your music folders with various automatically downloaded album pictures.
The problem is that their file attributes are set to be hidden and system files, ie. they won't show up on regular search.

You have to enable view of hidden and system files, then you can do a search for the album pics.
Search for "AlbumArt" which is what Media Player name the files, or *.jpg
which give you all .jpg files and then delete the search result.
Beware when using '*', you don't want to end up with deleting all your pictures in "My Pictures" folder :)

An alternative is to change the search mask for how Subsonic look for Album art.
As Admin, go to Settings -> General, and there you find the extensions for album art display which is default to: 'folder.jpg cover.jpg .jpg .jpeg .gif .png'
Remove all of it, or just leave 'folder.jpg', then you will only get the album pictures which you set yourself by changing it manually.

I hope this can help.
