Using a FreeNAS server as jukebox

Postby Alekoy » Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:47 pm

Hi.
I got Subsonic up and running on my FreeNAS server a couple of days ago, and I must say that I am very pleased with it :)

but now i an thinking about the next project.
My server is mounted in a rack in my basement, and the amplifier for the speakers in my garage is mounted in the same rack, I was hoping to connect the audio output from the computer that Freenas is running on to the amplifier, and use an account set up in jukebox-mode on a dock-mounted rugged tablet computer in the garage. IX300, similar to this, only lower specs (this is my garage-computer, used for manuals, diagnostics and looking up stuff)

As the tablet is portable, and has crappy a speaker (note, only one) and soundcard, I want the jukebox-mode...
nut shure if sound is avaliable on FreeNAS thou.
So the question is, is sound possible on FreeNAS, and how to activate it

I have tried connecting my headphones to the audio output-jack and nothing happened..

Hi!

I also want to use my SoundCard on my FreeNAS as the output for the Subsonic Jukebox.

Subsonic kicks ass and get this jukebox feature up and running would be great.

I tried to install the OSS audio drivers for FreeBSD, with no luck

http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/freen ... ers#p24465

(note the ftp: to OSS is not correct in this post, but easy to find at ftp.freebsd.org)
