Port forewarding succesfully to port 80, but...

I have been looking through the forum, but I guess I am missing something. In my setup it states that the forwarding to port 80 was successful, however if I want to access the web page i.e. xxx.subsonic.org it states that it is registered but cannot connect.

In the documentation it says that if there is no connection, in that area, there might be trouble with the port forwarding... but it says that it is ok. I know that my cableModem is from the internet provider and they dont let me muck around with the setting, so I was happy when it said that it was succesful, however, I would like confirmation that that is still the issue.

Thanks for creating a software that is too interesting and definately worth a donation if I can get it to work with my current setup (or one that a networking novice can manage).

I should add....

I have set up a seerveftp account and although I can access it through a local machine (on the hub) with the serveftp address, I cannot seem to access externally.
** Note: I have a modem that is supplied from the cable company that connects to a router (this I can play with). I just cannot mess with the modem settings.

***Note: in the control panel of Subsonic, it asks for an address (suggests xxx.subsonic.org and the subsonic.org seems to be hard coded, so I guess I cannot enter the serveftp address in there then?

Please forgive the newbie questions, but now I am determined to get this as it is the next step after getting hooked on Mediamonkey and Muzic Brains Picard.

I amswered one of my questions

I guess I didn“t read carefully enough, but to get the subsonic.org adress, I must donate. No worries.

Will it still work with the servftp address and why? I just want to get this working at my office as well.

Do I still click the

You don't need to donate to use a *.subsonic.org address for a trial basis.

You don't need to tick "Access your server over the Internet using an easy-to-remember address". That tick box is used to control whether or not the youradresss.subsonic.org DNS record points to your IP address (your unique identifier on the internet).

serveFTP (DynamicDNS) does exactly the same thing. This just provides a human readable name that points to your IP address.

Your issue is most likely that you need to setup port forwarding on your router so that requests on port 80 (or whatever port you have subsonic setup on) are correctly forwarded to your machine and not to any other machine connected to your router.

You can find excellent help with that here:
