I'll admit, I'm a long-time subsonic fan. I just wanted to point to this Lifehacker post about best personal streaming tool. A lot of the comments vote Subsonic.

Very nice to see that Subsonic is gaining a greater following. I have to say that it is definitely my audio solution. As far as video streaming, I just access everything over file shares instead and use VLC to play the files directly. I would love to see the video streaming gain greater support in the future, but with just one programmer, Sindre, I'm just fine with whatever he can manage.
