Android player controls

I just updated my Android device to the latest Subsonic app and I can't say I like anything about the new player controls. In my opinion the old ones were perfect and these new ones just look tacky and don't match the rest of the app at all.
I'm curious what everyone else thinks.

I liked how the app felt simple yet elegant, and very native to android. the new buttons ruin that. Plus you don't have the bottom buttons in cover view anymore which makes it less intuitive to use

I like them....... I would love to see the player on the lock screen.. I have an EVO and it would be great to have access to the buttons while locked.

I don't know the old ones, just saw them in screenshots. I think the UI is actually good, but the glossy and glow effect looks cheap to me. I would prefer "flat" buttons. But it's really a minor quibble.

i like the new controls, they bring a visually appealing aspect to it.
theres also some other things in the android app that i would love to see spit shined and some ui elements reorganized a little.
I am hoping between this app and poweramp, using poweramp to play local music on my sd card. poweramp is visually appealing and organized in a very user intuitive manner.
anyone know if the source for the android app is available somewhere, on a git repository somewhere?

I'm with "jo3kr." I think the simple, elegant design was best. I tried PowerAmp briefly and its ugly UI was a major reason I didn't keep it.

I haven't tried it, but that could probably be accomplished by using Widget Locker and the existing widget that the Subsonic app provides.

I'm happy that album art isn't truncated on the sides in portrait mode any more. But I'm afraid that the current layout, especially in landscape, still leaves a lot to be desired.

yes, in landscape you cant reverse because the button is cut off
moving towards the right direction
.....poweramp ugly? im sorry, you must have had a bad skin install :\

I used whatever the default was. I thought was ugly and tacky.

Can't we just have the buttons as part of the themes - that way everyone gets what they want...

Agreed. That would be the best solution.

while in cover view tap the three horizontal lines on the right and it will show the playlist and show the bottom ugly buttons which need overhauled next. i wish the source was published somewhere(or someone knew where it was) so the app could be spitshined a little more in the right direction.
the changes were a move in the right direction but the ui/layout still needs a little work

I am with jo3kr. I know this is very subjective, and that we could go on and on ranting about this. But if we are to have skins, that would solve it. I would certainly CHANGE the default at once. Maybe even contributing with one of my own.
