Just wanted to start off by saying thank you for such amazing software

been loving it since the first day I started to use it.

The thing is a small group of us at the office are trying to make a small private group of servers that we can all cloud into for music...

Is there anything or anyway that you can link more then one Server together and create one big data base ?

im thinking there must be a way since its all net based....

might be wrong though..

What about through shortcuts ? maybe have a ftp Link ?

well thank you for your time

What can probably work is you can create one subsonic server. Then each member with music on their computers can add their folders in the music tab. Presumably you are all on the same network so it might work

This is something I've been wondering about also. What we really need is a website (possibley part of subsonic, or possibly a 3rd party one). On that site you can create an account. Once logged into the account you can then add various logins for various subsonic servers. It could then present the subsonic interface to you using tabs for each seperate server, or even better aggregate all the music - but that would be more difficult i imagine!

This is a project i might actually try and work on if something doesn't already exit for it.

If you'd like each server to serve its own media, then you're probably out of luck. I think you'd have to have a central server that not only hosts subsonic, but also serves to redirect you to other subsonic servers when it finds that the content requested is not stored locally.

If you're fine with having only one subsonic server, you could create a vpn. Any shared folders should be accessible via subsonic. Technically, it should work. However, it'll depend heavily on the speed of the internet connections supplied to your clients. Also, any transcoding will only happen on the single machine.

I think what you are trying to accomplish is very easy. With one server, as mentioned, just create a seperate Music folder for each user in the Settings.

For multiple servers, use Chrome as the frontend and define shortcuts on the shortcut bar. once you log in to each server just remember the logon creds and select to log in automatically at the SS log on screen.

That's how I have mine set up and I can pull up any one of 9 Subsonic servers that I visit almost instantly by just selecting the tab at the top. Works great.

Am I missing something?

Well that solution works but it's not ideal. The subsonic pages log off after a while so that when you refresh you have to re-login. Maybe there's a way around that.

Also, you can end up with music playing from multiple browser tabs. Obviously you only want to hear one song at a time.

Ideally the songs from multiple servers would be mixed or collated into a single long list of albums. You don't really care which server they come from, but just that you can play them.

Your point regarding a consolidated music library is valid. I have never experienced the other behaviors you describe. When using Chrome as the front end for SS it never logs me off and even resumes playing where I ws listening when I wake my system from sleep. Changing from one shortcut to another also automatically terminates the current session and logs me into the site selected.

I may have misspoke previously. I don't have multiple tabs, i.e. one for each site. I have shortcuts into many sites on the shortcut bar. This allows me to change sites instantly. I have the logon creds saved in Chrome for each site and the log me in automatically checked at each log on page. If I want two sites open at the same time, I can just open a new instance of Chrome.
