Subsonic starts by itself when connecting to PC

Has anyone had a problem where subsonic starts and tries to play a song when you connect the phone to a computer via USB? Mine does it on my Thunderbolt and Droid X. Of course the song doesnt play because Im connecting in mass storage mode and the app cant see the SD card, so it gives an error. Anyone know if there's a fix for this?

Also.. been getting a lot of force closes and memory type errors on the new Thunderbolt.. just fyi..

The best remedy I know of is to get an EVO 4g. Mine never does that.

Hey crazed,
Like baxtr and gj51, i also havent heard of or experienced anything like this (samsung captivate). Since the X is a common phone i would have thought this would have been brought up before if it was due to an issue with the subsonic app.
A couple of things that would help:
1. So this happens on any and every pc you connect your phone(s) to? Everytime?
2. Have you had the SS app open before you connected it? Does it happen if you plug you phone in after a reboot (of the phone)?
3. Do you have anything like Tasker that is set to perform a task when usb is connected?

Not that we've seen this particular issue, but a while back we were having a lot of issues with Droids. They seem to have been resolved, but I still often ask a user having phone connection issues if they have a Droid. Something to do with Stagefright not playing well. IF you search Stagefright, you can find the related posts.

Hmmm.. good questions.. maybe it's my PC.

It seems to happen randomly on both the Droid X and the new Thunderbolt. It seems to do it if I had run subsonic recently. For example, just now I played a few songs and exited the app completely.

I plugged in the phone to the computer for USB mass storage mode and subonsic pops up with an error that says, "Error playing [Song Title]" MediaPlayer error: 100(0)(Exception)

Dont think I have any autoplay settings for USB drives because the normal windows autoplay prompt comes up asking me what I want to do..

It's like plugging the phone in causes subsonic to want to continue playing the last file that was streaming, but of course that will fail because the phone doesnt see the sd card when in USB mass storage mode..

EDIT:
Also

-When I unplug from the computer, the song that it error'd out on starts playing by itself.

- After a reboot, the issue does not occur.

You're not alone, this happens to me too, with both the Droid X and the Thunderbolt. Drives me nuts. As soon as the sdcard is mounted as storage, subsonic tries to play.

This also happens to me (I have an HTC Espresso AKA T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Slide).

At one point it was happening with both Pandora and Subsonic, but lately just Subsonic, perhaps because I've been using it more and Pandora less, or perhaps because I upgraded the OS to Android 2.2 and both Pandora and Subsonic have been updated several times also.

I also have this problem on a Droid 2 running Android 2.2, and just like tcpsyn said: It drives me nuts!

Same deal as the rest, when I connect or disconnect from the computer it will auto play whatever song it was last on.

It also gives an error that it cannot play a song when it is first plugged into USB: Error. Error playing "Song Name" MediaPlayer error: 100 (0) (Exception). Normally I wouldn't care about this error, but while the phone is plugged into the computer the error will not go away even after you press the OK button and the clear button from the Android taskbar. The only way to remove the errors is to force shutdown subsonic (which is dumb).

It makes me RAGE when I have the phone docked to my PC then someone calls and I undock to answer and the music starts playing.

This is on my own paid subsonic server.

PC where I connect the phone:
Win7 64 Ultimate
i5-760 Quad
8GB Ram
GTX 460

PC that runs the subsonic server:
Lenovo T61
Win7 64 Ultimate
Core2 Duo T7300
4GB Ram
Quadro NVS 140M

Uninstalling should lower your angst considerably. Such rage he has ...

I'm seeing this on my Nexus S too. Very much like cityhicks it makes me rage when it starts playing every time I unplug the phone.

I actually have uninstalled it twice because of this issue, and gone over to Audiogalaxy, but in the end the pros of Subsonic outweigh this very annoying con.

Has anybody come up with a solution to this?

Do you actually CLOSE Subsonic when your done with it or do you just load another app? I usually go to the SS app home screen and close the app by tapping the X. I find it hard to believe that the app can start playing by itself if it isn't in memory.

I have this issue too on my HTC Incredible, Foryo 2.2. If I mount the phone as Charge Only, it's fine, but when I mount it as Disk Drives, it tries to start playing (but errors out). Then, when I unplug the phone (every time), it starts playing the next song. I went into my running services and stopped Subsonic before plugging it in but the error still comes up.

Very annoying but I love Subsonic so much that I just deal with it. A fix would be nice too though :)

Then there has to be something that is initiating the program. It's not a feature of Subsonic on its own. If the program is closed and out of memory, then the phone has to be selecting it and initiating the startup. There has to be a setting on the phone that is starting SS up.
