Subsonic streaming over SSL, speed difference?

The VAST majority of my use of Subsonic is streaming to my Android phone while on the road and while at work. I would prefer to use SSL for the streaming, however, and I'm wondering if anyone could give any insight as to whether or not the handshake (and other things) negatively impact mobile streaming.

Also, would the handshake take place only upon establishing the connection when I open the Subsonic App on my phone? Or would subsequent handshakes take place every time a different track started?

Edit: Also, is the username and password passed in plain text for the handshake or are those two pieces of information encrypted as well?

I answered the last question on my own. SSL happens before the credentials are passed so they're encrypted as well.

Hello,

I'm using Subsonic over a SSL reverse proxy for few months now and there is no impact on the streaming via the smartphones :
iPhone 3/4
HTC Desire HD

Cheers.
