Cover art missing

Postby cowboyzx6 » Tue Dec 27, 2011 5:13 pm

Just started using Subsonic so maybe this is just the way it is...
Running Subsonic on my Galaxy Nexus. I can access my home server and play my songs but I don't see any cover art. My cover art is embedded in each individual track. Is this as intended or is there a setting somewhere that I missed?

Have you updated your search index? settings/search
With embedded art if you only have 1 cover embedded per track and all the tracks of a album have the same
then you should be ok but SS prefers to use non-embedded art eg cover.jpg or folder.jpg.
Embedded art can be rather unpredictable :?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I ran the search index. Will try again tonight when I get home just to be sure.

But maybe SS is not for me. My .mp3's are organized as such on my Windows Home Server box:

\\ServerName\Genre 1\Artist Name 1 - Album Title - Song Name.mp3
\\ServerName\Genre 1\Artist Name 2 - Album Title - Song Name.mp3
\\ServerName\Genre 2\Artist Name 1 - Album Title - Song Name.mp3
\\ServerName\Genre 2\Artist Name 2 - Album Title - Song Name.mp3
....
\\ServerName\Genre X\Artist Name 1 - Album Title - Song Name.mp3

This has worked for me for years (including the individually embedded cover art) for iTunes, MediaMonkey, Logitech, etc...so not looking to change.

Sounds like what you are saying is that SS prefers a folder for each album of a particular artist? Is this correct?

Thanks!

I wasn't saying that but yes it does expect a hierarchical folder organisation.
So genre\artist\album\tracks will work in SS.

Yes, Subsonic determines your artist and album names by folders.

\Genre\Artist\Album\whatever filename scheme you'd like

seems to work quite well. Although I don't have my things seperated by Genre currently, I don't want to start any arguments with my gf over what genre things belong in.

Ok. Was hoping there was a way around the required hierarchy, but guess not.

Thanks for the quick replies.
